Art and Culture in the City of Salzburg and Salzburger Land

If the city of Salzburg, Salzburger Land and the Salzkammergut is well known for something in particular, then it is art and culture. It is not only at the time of the Salzburg Festival when art and culture dominate. Numerous monuments, exhibitions and sights draw many thousands of visitors in throughout the whole year. The original film locations from the “Sound of Music” are a summer highlight, whilst the Mondsee is transformed into a winter wonderland around Advent and the pre-Christmas period.

Mondsee Jedermann play

Nearly everyone has heard of the the Salzburg Festival “Jedermann” play. But did you know that in Mondsee there is a version of this theatre piece in the local Austrian dialect? It was originally written for the “simple folk” and it has been performed here in Mondsee since 1922.
