They are the key parts of every holiday and on no account should they not be. By going on excursions and trips to surrounding sights, only then does the holiday region of your choice becomes really tangible. When an excursion is a part of the holiday programme, then it must be well-planned and one must have all the required information to hand. The diversity in Mondseeland, in Salzkammergut and in Salzburger Land is vast and the Iris Porsche Hotel & Restaurant is a great departure point for various trips to cool locations and top sights.
My adventure between the lake, the city and the mountains
Day trip destinations around Mondsee
Enjoy the great views of the town from the lake, the landscape and the mountains behind. A tour on one of the excursion boats on the Mondsee lake must definitely be a part of every ambitious holiday programme. On dry land, the slow train in Mondsee will take you everywhere you need to go. It seats 57 passengers and goes daily throughout the summer. A wonderful highlight of your holiday is the largest and best equipped bathing facility of Salzkammergut. In the Mondsee Alpine lake resort you can enjoy spacious green lawns and great views of the unique mountain scenery of the Alpine foothills. If you would like to enjoy a bit more privacy, the in house Iris Porsche bathing facility is available for you to use.
Off to the Mozart City of Salzburg
The world famous city of Salzburg, with many sights to see, art and cultural monuments is only a 20 minute drive away. The city centre will astound you with its top of the range shops, whilst the ”Haus der Natur” (House of Nature), the Domquartier or the churches and museums will transport you into another world. High above the city, the Hohensalzburg castle looks out across the city and the surrounding mountains, but above all it is steeped in history. You can see up to 400 local and exoctic animals at Salzburg Zoo. Furthermore, in the south of the city is the Hellbrunn summer palace, where the exciting water fountains will guarantee a cooling off on those hot summer days.
Or lets just stay in Salzkammergut?
“A lot of fun can be had in Salzkammergut” and there are lots of excursion destinations to head for. Besides the bathing experience in over 70 bathing lakes, the Zwölferhorn mountain and Schafbergbahn steam train will take your breath away. Why? Because at the top of the mountain are the most stunning views over the lake region of Salzkammergut and the mountains which encase these views, make for unforgettable photos. With full steam ahead, the steepest rack railway in Austria, takes you up to the Schafberg, before your day trip continues on to the imperial town of Bad Ischl. The must sees there are the imperial villa and the world famous Zauner coffee house, which will take you back to the long gone times of the Kaiser. Maybe you will have time on your way back to the Iris Porsche Hotel & Restaurant to stop off at one of the many wonderful Salzkammergut lakes - the landscape is too wonderful to simply drive by!
